Keeping Time: Plains Indian Ledger Drawings

Donald Ellis Gallery is pleased to announce the exhibtion Keeping Time: Plains Indian Ledger Drawings (1865 – 1900), a collaboration with Galerie Gisela Capitain, Cologne, Germany. It runs from June 4-July 17, at 26 St. Apern Strasse, Cologne, Germany.

The exhibition showcases a remarkable group of approximately seventy Ledger Drawings from the latter part of the 19th century, as well as a small group of objects that help conceptualise these works.

Galerie Gisela Capitain is a very highly regarded gallery in the contemporary art world, both in Germany and internationally. Their interest in Plains Drawings is further evidence of the growing attention for this little known but highly important aspect of American art history.
