Keeping Time

The gallery is pleased to announce: "Keeping Time: Plains Indian Ledger Drawings (1865 – 1900)”, in collaboration with Galerie Gisela Capitain, Cologne, Germany, June 4-July 17. Galerie Gisela Capitain is a very highly regarded gallery in the contemporary art world, both in Germany and internationally.  Their interest in Plains Indian drawings is further evidence of the growing interest in this little known but highly important aspect of American art history.  The exhibition will feature a remarkable group of approximately 70 drawings from the latter part of the 19th century. The exhibition will also feature a small group of objects that help conceptualise ledger drawings.

The Audain Art Museum

In March, 2016 the Audain Art Museum will open in Whistler, BC.  Michael Audain and his wife Yoshi Karasawa have been important clients of the gallery and are good friends.  The museum, housed in a remarkable building designed by Patkau Architects, features the art of British Columbia, from the historic art of the First Nations of the province through the 20th century.  Included is an exceptional group of paintings by Emily Carr, photographic works from the Vancouver School and an extraordinary collection of historic 18th and 19th century masks from the Northwest Coast.
